Most of the companies in the Italian goldsmith sector are situated in industrial cities like Arezzo, Vicenza, and Alessandria.
In the gold districts, a model of diffuse industrialization is realized, made possible by the qualification of different companies that collaborate between them in order to offer different types of products.
In such a way, the enterprises of the industrial districts succeed to reach very high levels of productive efficiency, which can be compared to the largest worldwide industrial manufacturing companies.
The project
The goldsmith district of Arezzo is the main Italian manufacturing core in the gold and silver industry.
Arezzo has 1,202 companies and 7,964 employees; it represents about 35% of the total Italian annual export turnover in the gold sector.
A group of Arezzo's manufacturing companies in collaboration with Confartigianato has created the project Precious Network. The project aims to strengthen the international competitiveness of the companies through the development of promotional activities, communication, and marketing in international markets.
